There is so much to learn from food, in the process and the sharing...’

Tell us about your family…

We are a young family of four who LOVE food! My husband and I are police officers who often have to work opposite shifts so the time we do all get together is very important to us. And for us food is an important part of what brings us together. Whether its breakfast, lunch, or dinner we try to sit down together and share whatever meal we can. My husband and I have always shared a love of food as well as health and fitness and we believe that being a parent doesn’t mean you have to compromise any of this. It's important to me that our girls develop a healthy relationship with and love for food and value it along with their health.

What is your fondest memory of being pregnant?

To be perfectly honest with you pregnancy and I don’t really get along… However, the moment I saw those two little lines on the pregnancy test with both girls is forever etched in my memory with the joy that our little family was growing.

What do you love most about being a Mum?

Oh goodness, I love everything about being a mum! From that excited little smile when they first see your face every morning to the privilege it is knowing there is nothing better than being in your arms after they skin their knee. There are hard days for sure but when you do finally sit down at the end there is a satisfaction in that exhaustion.

What has been one of your favourite memories about motherhood so far?

The first time I saw my two girls really play with one another. My little Harper is 13 months now and  the relationship I can see developing between her and Miss Lily who is 3 has become a constant source of heart melting moments for me.

What's one of the things that you least expected about motherhood?

The way that it can drive you absolutely mad in one moment and the next has you moved to tears of joy. Every moment let alone every day is a surprise!

What is the biggest lesson that motherhood has taught you so far?

Patience, definitely patience! So I can slow down and make sure I don’t miss the little moments as time is moving so fast. Oh and to braid hair… thanks ‘Frozen’.

What values do you think are the most important to instil in your children?

To be independent and kind. While valuing themselves and each other along with their health.

Other than being a Mum, what are you most passionate about?

Absolutely food. Real.. whole.. food. I love the way food brings us together and for us it’s a big part of what makes our house a home. From the smell of fresh bread in the oven, to the excitement that builds in the hours after we have lit up the pizza oven. There is so much to learn from food, in the process and the sharing.

What baby product can you not live without & why?

My baby carrier! Shopping and cooking both require two hands:)

When hiring a nanny what qualities would you look for in the applicant?

That they are kind and trustworthy.

Sometimes life can get a little crazy, what do you do to stay sane?

Run and drink wine 🙂

What's your favourite activity to do with your family?

Cook. Well right now Lily and I love to cook and Harper loves to catch anything that falls to the ground and eat it. But it wont be long till she graduates to the bench top.

Favourite books to read with your little one/s?

How do I love you by P.K. HALLINAN

Is there any advice you can give to mums-to-be?

Your own experience as a mother will be unique to any one else's. What you value will be different to other people and that’s ok! I have learned that there is no one right way.
