Introducing Tess Gordon, our Mummy of the week

Tess Gordon to us is known as the smiling beauty with the most infectious laugh. It is hard not to fall for her & her gorgeous family instantly! This Superwoman is the beautiful partner to Sydney Roosters player, Michael Gordon & mummy to Cruz and Kahlani. To add to her title, Tess also works as a makeup artist & jewellery designer. We certainly have fallen hard for this awesome foursome...

Tell us about your family…

We are a family of 4. There is my husband Mick, our son Cruz who is 6 and our daughter Kahlani who is 3. We are currently living in Clovelly. Our gorgeous son has just started Kindergarten and is loving it & our daughter is the very cute little entertainer of the family. My husband plays football for the Sydney Roosters and I work for Clinique as a makeup Artist in Sydney.

What is your fondest memory of being pregnant?

I didn't enjoy my pregnancy's as they were pretty rough however the standout enjoyable moments were the first movements, the kicks! They were amazing.

What do you love most about being a Mum?

I seriously love everything about it, there is nothing more pure then the love shared between a Mother/Father and their children. It's like having your best friends with you every minute of everyday.

What has been one of your favourite memories about motherhood so far?

My favourite memory with both children would have to be when they took their first steps!

What's one of the things that you least expected about motherhood?

Everything about motherhood has been a huge learning curve to be honest, everything is new and unexpected things happen all the time but I love it.

What values do you think are the most important to instil in your children?

Kindness, empathy, Gratitude and to always be yourself. These values are so important in our family and to me as a mother I want my kids to grow up with all these values instilled in them. I always tell my children to treat people how you want to be treated and if they are not kind back be kind anyway.

Other than being a Mum, what are you most passionate about?

I am a makeup artist and a jewellery designer when I have the time but lately the jewellery @shiloh_rose has been put on hold as I am focusing more on makeup. It's quite hard to juggle everything sometimes but I do the best that I can. My babies always come first.

What baby product can you not live without & why?

I would have to say I swore by the dummy I know not everyone is into them but I 100% was haha loved them. When I needed to wean them off the dummy I just simply took it away and that was that, my son was really into trucks at the time and I just told him the garbage truck came and took them and he was like "oh ok" haha but it worked.

Sometimes life can get a little crazy, what do you do to stay sane?

Drink coffee and just deal with it haha! We don't have a lot of choice in the matter as we have never really had the help of family so we have pretty much learnt to deal with everything ourselves which I think is a blessing in disguise as it has made us strong as a family.

What's your favourite activity to do with your family?

We love the water so we could just beach all day everyday but in Winter we love the movies.

Favourite books to read with your little one/s?

Dr Suess Books, all of them - our favourite one is "Congratulations today is your day'. The kids don't know it yet but it has a lot of valuable life lessons in it, I have the whole book blown up as one big story framed on the wall.

Is there any advice you can give to mums-to-be?

Do YOU and what your comfortable with, not what everyone else and society expects you to do! Every kid is different and no one knows them like you do. Also as they grow older never compare your children with other children whether its to do with speech, interaction, walking, running, play even nutrition whatever it is, as I said before they are all different! Let's let kids be kids...
